Casket Cinema spins into Art-A-Whirl 2023, with a special screening on Saturday May 20th 8pm of the film, THE CO-OP WARS. Directed by Minneapolis documentarian Deacon Warner and producer Erik Esse, this film tells the little known story of the 1970s food wars in Minneapolis. A conflict so fierce that cars were bombed, workers assaulted and co-ops on the West bank occupied over by Maoist activists. The film is narrated by the legendary Peter Coyote, a vet of many Ken Burns films and the doc features many of the infamous participants of the day.
The “THE CO-OP WARS.” will compliment the exhibition of the art of Terry McDaniel, Amy Sunby and Mark Wojahn that will be hanging on the Casket Cinema walls. Come early and through out Art-A-Whirl to see this special exhibition.
