Casket Cinema warms our wintry heart with our next screening, “How Love Won: The Fight For Marriage Equality In MN”. This endearing and powerful documentary traces the history of the movement which attempted to outlaw but then slingshotted gay marriage’s legalization in our state. Expertly directed by on-the-scenes capitol videographer Mike McIntee, it captures all the special moments of political bliss for fans of this bill. ‘How Love Won’ won the Audience award at the 2016 MSPIFFand we expect our casket faithful to truly enjoy this story. Special guests for this Casket will be director Mike McIntee and others.

Running on Climate

We continue to dig deep at Casket Cinema on the effects of climate change with a special Saturday screening of Running On Climate on October 8th at 8pm. This award winning documentary reveals the climate fight happening in Vancouver, British Columbia. The film gets personal as it follows the Green party candidate & scientist, Dr Andrew Weaver as he runs for political office. This inspiring story will reveal tactics that could swing other third party candidates to victory in our mega-election in November.

Bikes vs, Cars

Ride your bike into our 9th season with a special outdoor screening of the award winning film, "Bikes vs. Cars" on Thursday August 4th at 9pm in the parking lot of the Casket Arts Building. The Casket building will be hosting its first "Summer Shindig" with food trucks, visiting artists and festivities from 5pm-10pm. Our season premiere film, "Bikes vs. Cars" is a dutch movie that looks worldwide at the confrontation between bicyclists and the auto industry. Director Fredrik Gertten interviews bike activists and automotive insiders for an in-depth look at the battles each are fighting for bike rights or more cars to sell. Special guests for the evening will be the NE bike shop "Recovery" owner, Seth Sattmueller, and others to be announced. They will take questions after the film with Casket Cinema co-founder and the Roadkill bike club President Wilbur Ince.

The Interrupters

On Thursday March 31st, Casket Cinema returns to its diet of hard hitting documentaries with the award winning film, “The Interrupters”. This movie is about three individuals who work to protect their Chicago community from the violence they once deployed. They call themselves “Interrupters” and their work and dedication shows how every angle to peace is needed to create a more just and safe city. This film has been called brave, humble and at times even funny. Director, Steve James and Alex Kotlowitz, have constructed a very compelling story of regular people working against violence.

The Salt of the Earth

On Thursday April 28th, Casket Cinema is happy to present the Academy Award nominated documentary “The Salt of the Earth”. This movie is about the life of acclaimed international photographer Sabastio Saldago. The film explores his major photographic series and the impact his photographs may have had on the world. The film reveals how his photojournalism have affected him, his family and has lead him to the environmental work he is currently executing with his wife in the Brazilian Rain forest. The film is co-directed by Wim Wenders and Sabastio’s son Julian.

War on Whistelblowers

Casket Cinema continues our fight for justice with the provocative documentary “the War on Whistleblowers”. This is a recent film from Robert Greenwald and his progressive film company Brave New Films. War on Whistleblowers interviews five government and private industry whistleblowers, The film reveals how the Obama administration is prosecuting more whistleblowers more than any other president. This program will be a call to arms for advocates of free speech, patriotism and those who seek more transparency in our society.
