FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 2025

Casket Cinema Announces 2025–26 Season of Films

From experimental cinema to cult classics, live guests to local premieres, Minneapolis’ longest-running microcinema brings another season of eclectic screenings.

Minneapolis, MN — Casket Cinema, the Twin Cities’ grassroots hub for independent, underground, and offbeat cinema, is proud to announce its 2025–26 season lineup. This year’s series brings together international voices, local talent, cult traditions, and film festival favorites — all in the spirit of community and creative exploration.

Almost all of the film screenings take place in the old Northwestern Casket Building in Mark Wojahn's art studio.  (The movie listings note movies that are shown at other locations)

Casket Cinema 2025–26 Season Schedule

“Casket Cinema has always been about community — a place to discover films you can’t see anywhere else, share the experience with others, and meet the people behind the work,” said [Organizer/Programmer’s Name], co-founder of Casket Cinema. “This season, we’re especially excited to feature both international filmmakers and local voices.”

Screenings are held in an intimate loft theater with limited seating — advance reservations are strongly recommended.

About Casket Cinema

Casket Cinema is Mark Wojahn's underground micro-cinema co-founded in 2008 with Wilbur Ince. It is dedicated to showing the best in independent documentaries. The intention of the screenings is to use movies to bring people together, and provide an outlet for community building.

Here's a link to the upcoming schedule of movies - Casket Cinema Schedule

Screening Times

Films usually show on the first Thursday of every month and begin at 8pm. We start at 7:30pm with a quick meet and greet and social hour, and after introductions, we show the film.  At the conclusion of the film we have a question and answer with a panel or special guests. So many times after watching a documentary a person wonders what is the next step? At Casket Cinema, that can be answered immediately during the Q&A.

Reaching Out to our Local Community

Films are often paired with local organizations that have a vested interest in the subject matter. We take donations, and split the proceeds with the 'bulb fund', and a local charity.

We hope you can make the next screening!
